EIC = Energy Identification Code

- EICs do not identify the nature of the trading nor business functions, but only the market participant itself as an entity that can trade
- Must be unique: only ONE EIC per company, area, object


- Must be generic: for example, a code issued for a company in GB can be used by the same company to trade in Spain and France

- EIC codes should be used also for internal lines. Internal lines are described using a T-code issued by the Local Issuing Offices (LIO), while interconnections are described using a T-code assigned by the Central Issuing Office (CIO). For more details, please refer to:
